Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's useful remote features. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even locate it with an app for smartphones.
Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Put a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, and slowly pull it up.
Locking the Door

The Engine is Ready to Start

If your vehicle comes with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature it was set to while it was parked. It will last for up to 15 mins.
Remove the back cover of the key fob using your fingernail. Under the cover and on a diagonal at the edge of the body, you'll find a button. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will fall off, and then slide away to reveal the manual blade! If you're still having trouble finding the button, look around the newly exposed manual key access area to see if there is a hidden slot or lever.
Close the Windows
One of the hidden features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to roll down all of the windows in a matter of seconds using them. This is useful when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just when you need some fresh air in the cabin while driving.
To unlock the windows, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car comes with one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car with the key fob. It will sound an intense, attention-grabbing roar that can scare off thieves and help you get home safely after a long night out. This feature is handy when you reside in a hazardous area, or want to protect your family when you are away from home.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob comes with a variety of useful features. These are ideal when you're working on shopping or helping your kids load up their sports equipment after practice.

If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it with the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it using the same button.

Turning Off the Alarm

Lay out your keys along with batteries and any other keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button at the bottom left corner on the key fob and move it to the right. The cover should fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure beneath.
Press the button for unlocking the key fob two times quickly, and you will be able to open all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can also close the windows and sunroof when they're equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop.
